Peony flower is a native flower in Asia, Europe, Western North America. This type of flower is often fragrant with colors ranging from purple and pink to red, white or yellow, in late spring and early summer. The flowers have a short blooming season, usually only 7–10 days. However, peony flowers bloom annually for decades.
Especially, it is considered the King of the flowers, the symbol of royalty and virtues in China. It is the inspiration in many artworks from this Eastern Asian country, and the name of it in Chinese can be translated as “the most beautiful". In contrast, in Western culture, peony flowers are associated with shamefulness and bashfulness since Greek myth says that nymphs used to hide their naked forms in these flowers.
